The Region Q Youth
Advisory Council (YAC) was officially organized in March, 2003 to
represent the views of youth within our 5 counties (Beaufort, Bertie,
Hertford, Martin & Pitt). YAC provides an opportunity where youth
can meet and collectively devise constructive strategies involving
planning and future development of programs, events and activities.
YAC Leadership
Day was held on Saturday, March 22, 2006 at the NC TeleCenter in
Williamston from 9:30- 3:30 pm. Morning presenter was Attorney Earl
Brown. Attorney Brown is the principal owner of the Law Office of
Earl T. Brown, P.C. in Greenville, NC. His law practice specializes in
the areas of juvenile defense, criminal defense, personal injury,
worker compensation, and medical malpractice. Presenters for the
afternoon were Mr. Darick Bryant and Ms. Kimberly Stanley. Mr. Bryant
and Ms. Stanley are Youth Career Consultants with the Region Q
Youth@Work Programs. Sessions covered Influence/Decision Making,
Effective Communication, Personal Leadership and Development and
Leadership Strategies (How to be an effective leader). Breakfast and
lunch were provided to the attendees and each participant received a
certificate for participating in the event.
