Workforce Investment Boards through their Youth Committee serve
as the vehicle to develop comprehensive and integrated
strategies to help in-school and out-of-school youth prepare for
successful entry into the workforce. The Youth Committee
is comprised of people from Region Q’s five counties
-Beaufort, Bertie, Hertford, Martin & Pitt.
WIA Youth Program
The WIA Youth Program is designed for eligible youth, ages
14-21, who require additional assistance to succeed in education
or employment. The program includes opportunities for
assistance in academic or occupational learning; development of
leadership skills; and preparation for further education,
additional training and employment.

The
Youth Advisory Committee met on Wednesday, March 12 to elect
officers and to discuss other business matters pertaining to the Advisory Committee.
At this point, there will be 15 youth on the Advisory
Committee - 3 representatives from each of our 5 counties
(Beaufort, Bertie, Hertford, Martin & Pitt). The President
and Vice-President will serve as voting members on the
Region Q WDB Youth Committee and will attend an orientation
session for all new committee members. Advisory Committee members are listening to information presented to them about
the purpose of the Advisory Committee. |
